Although Wuthering Heights was criticized when first published, it gave rise to many adaptations, such like films, radio, television dramas, a musical, a ballet, and opera. The first adaptation of Wuthering Heights was in 1920, where it was made into a film and directed by A.V. Bramble. Although there has been many adaptations of Wuthering Heights, barely in 2011 Heathcliff was first played by a black actor, which was directed by Andrea Arnold.
